چکیده

The neutron-rich zirconium isotopes are a key testing ground for nuclear models due to their sensitivity to shape changes, and the crossing of the r-process path of explosive nucleosynthesis. Furthermore, recent experimental data have revealed a high-spin isomer in Zr. Here we report the results of configuration-constrained potential-energy-surface calculations of ground states and high-K states in Zr, restricted to quadrupole and hexadecapole shapes. These calculations enable the existing isomer data to be understood, and predictions are made for Zr. PACS numbers: 21.10.-k, 21.60.-n, 27.60.+j

A theoretical description of energy spectra and two-neutron separation energies for neutron-rich zirconium isotopes

Very recently the atomic masses of neutron-rich Zr isotopes, from Zr to Zr, have been measured with high precision. Using a schematic Interacting Boson Model (IBM) Hamiltonian, the evolution from spherical to deformed shapes along the chain of Zr isotopes, describing at the same time the excitation energies as well as the two-neutron separation energies, can be rather well reproduced. The inter...

Yrast three - quasiparticle K isomers in neutron - rich 181 Hf

Long-lived isomeric states in nuclei are unique laboratories for studying the detailed properties of nuclear wave functions. From an experimental standpoint, transitions deexciting long-lived isomers provide clean information on wave-function admixtures, since a better signal-to-noise ratio is achieved if short-lived excitations are allowed to decay away. From a theoretical perspective, a long-...

Deformation and its influence on the K isomerism in neutron-rich Hf nuclei

We investigate the influence of deformation on the possible occurrence of long-lived K isomers in Hf isotopes around N = 116, using configuration-constrained calculations of potential-energy surfaces. Despite having reduced shape elongation, the multi-quasiparticle states in Hf remain moderately robust against triaxial distortion, supporting the long expected occurrence of exceptionally long-li...

Spins, electromagnetic moments, and isomers of (107-129)Cd.

The neutron-rich isotopes of cadmium up to the N=82 shell closure have been investigated by high-resolution laser spectroscopy. Deep-uv excitation at 214.5 nm and radioactive-beam bunching provided the required experimental sensitivity. Long-lived isomers are observed in (127)Cd and (129)Cd for the first time. One essential feature of the spherical shell model is unambiguously confirmed by a li...

Limit to high-spin isomerism in hafnium isotopes

Configuration-constrained nuclear shape calculations are used to show that reinforcing neutron and proton orbital structures create exceptional conditions for the formation of multiquasiparticle isomers in neutron-rich hafnium isotopes, with axially symmetric, prolate shapes. Highly excited, long-lived states are predicted. However, at angular momenta close to 40\ , orbital alignment effects fo...
